I feel that water is an very important source to Singapore and thus, I feel that Singapore should continue getting water from malaysia as the water is clean and that we earn a profit from buying to them. We are able to earn a profit and Singapore has the materials to purfiy the water too.
Imported water: another way of increasing the water supply is to buy water from neighbouring countries. Singapore have been buyging from Malaysia of Johor. There are two agreement signed with the Johor government which will expire in the year 2011 and 2061 respectively.
water agreement may not last long. It can be convenience but still, the agreement will still expires. It is important for Singapore to be self sufficient and obtain fresh water supply from local sources.
No,because these agreement will expire and they might not be selling to us the water after the agreement ended. So we must find our own way of getting our water supply before the agreement ends
i think it all takes time because if we can be independent as easy as it sounds, there is no need for us to continue buying water from countries like Johor anymore.
Singapore and Malaysia have signed four agreements to regulate the supply of water from Malaysia to Singapore. The first - signed in 1927 - is no longer in force. Water imported from Malaysia under the other three agreements - signed in 1961, 1962 and 1990 - now meets about half of Singapore's water demand. However, this will be reduced after the 1961 pact expires in 2011. The government has also stated that Singapore can be self-sufficient in water by the time the 1962 and 1990 agreements expire in 2061.
